Attend our 2018 Event

Faces of Hope 2018 Southern Maryland Kickoff Event

April 27, 2018 - 6PM
Hollywood Vol. Fire Department

Come join us as we kick off the reorganization of the MHCF for the Southern Maryland area. Dinner, silent auction, and a night with the talented Robbie Boothe band. Tickets are only $35 each. Governor Hogan has been invited and we hope he'll be able to attend as we'd like to support his cancer fight.

Come meet Melinda Ruppert at our 2018 event - our featured speaker, a grief and loss counselor, and mother of Brogan:

Brogan Kade Ruppert was diagnosed with an inoperable, incurable brain tumor (DIPG) in 2008. Brogan passed away on March 4th, 2012 at age 11.

Brogan was one of 13 who was enrolled in an experimental protocol to treat DIPG at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. His family believes that they had almost 4 years of (unexpected) time with him due to the treatment he received at St. Jude. In addition to the incredible care at St. Jude, the Ruppert family received financial help and emotional support from A Message of Hope Cancer Fund. Their help during the 4 years that Brogan battled brain cancer provided the Rupperts with comfort and security at some of the most challenging and disparaging times in their lives. The Rupperts believe that our community is blessed to have an incredible organization like MHCF as they continue to provide love and support to those who are in need. Melinda and Kobey Ruppert will be forever grateful for A Message of Hope!

In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
