Lynnette Alicea

Lynnette was a loving wife and mother to an eight-year-old daughter. She had a passion for nature and wildlife and loved meditating, practicing yoga, exercising, and listening to music.

When Lynette was diagnosed with stage four Metastatic Melanoma at age 40, she began alternative treatment. Lynette’s strength helped her to overcome odds and extend her prognosis.

A Message of Hope Cancer Fund helped Lynnette and her family fund travel expenses to and from her treatment center, allowing her to try new treatment methods and spend another year with her family and loved ones.

In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
