Sandra Vera

Sandra is a proud mother of a teenage daughter, living in southern Maryland. She loves cooking, singing, and Maryland blue crabs.

Sandra was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and has had surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation. She is unable to work while enduring such intense treatment. Because of this, it has become more difficult to make insurance payments and still pay for groceries and other basic needs to provide for her daughter.

A Message of Hope Cancer Fund has been able to relieve some of the financial burden, allowing Sandra to focus on her family and recovery.

In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
