Kyla Poole

Kyla Poole

Kyla is a vibrant little girl who loves to dance and play with her Barbies and American Girl dolls. She has a close and supportive family who loves her very much.

Kyla was in the third grade when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is being treated and continues to gain more and more strength. Kyla’s mother stays by her side as much as possible, even through overnight trips to the hospital.

Kyla’s mother was forced to take some unpaid leave so she could be a caretaker for her daughter; as a result, the Poole family began to struggle financially. A Message of Hope Cancer Fund helped cover some of the bills during this difficult time, so Kyla could receive the treatment and support she needed. She is fighting her way into remission and stays positive as she continues treatment.

In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
