Steve joined the Board of Directors in September 2011. He has been active as a volunteer for the organization since first offering to assist in editing Message of HOPE Founder Meredith McNerney’s book, Facing Cancer: A Spiritual Journey from Pain to Peace. A veteran public relations consultant with more than 25 years of experience in the media and communications industry, he is vice president of Van Eperen & Company. Previously, he served as public information director for Montgomery County Public Schools, as director of communications for Montgomery College, and as a public information officer for Montgomery County, Md.

Local Non-profit Supports Families Admidst Cancer Struggles.
In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
