Darlene Melkonian

Darlene Melkonian serves as the Family Services Director for A Message of Hope. Darlene oversees the application process, works with social workers at local hospitals and presents applictions to the board. Darlene works with our families to ensure funding is used to best serve their needs during treatment. She also visits with families in the fight to spread our message of hope. Darlene was motivated to give back after her own son battled cancer twice. Today she resides in Damascus with her husband, Dave, her son Christopher (a nine year cancer survivor), and their two daughters, Sam and Missy. Like all of our board members, Darlene is a volunteer.

Local Non-profit Supports Families Admidst Cancer Struggles.
In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
